Hum Diddly
My buddy Adam and I had a tradition back in high school. On days we didn’t spend poundin around in the mountains we’d meet up and go “dreaming”. We’d go over to REI and look at tents and backpacks and books and climbing gear. Then we’d go to Grand West Outfitters and do the same thing. We’d spend all day dreaming about the next level in gear or what it would be like to have some twin tip skis or somethingerother garbly har bar.
I’ve been doing that lately too. I stopped by Boulder Running Company last week to check out the latest shoes from La Sportiva. Sometimes I’ll catch myself gandering endlessly at people cycling down the street, and yeppers, I love to pick up the local sporting magazines to see what sort of rad races will be floating around town. Last week I happened to pick up the latest edition of Rocky Mountain Sports. I was dinkin through the pages when I ran across a page that startled me something good. I ran across me, in an advertisement.
I remember where that picture was taken, Eldorado Canyon State Park, and I think it was taken by Buzz Burrell. He had just talked me into running the race, I had showed up to volunteer or perhaps just watch. But Buzz wouldn’t have it, I was running. That’s why I’m rockin a t-shirt. Just so happened I had the rest of my running gear in the car that day. I got a real kick out of seeing myself in this magazine. Thanks Buzz!
I did the race that is posted for July 21 - Golden Gate Canyon - It’s on one of the prettier trails I’ve ever run. Check it out if yer the running type.
