28 Days Later

I can hobble down steps.
I can hobble up them too.
I don’t take risks.
I can bike at level 8.
I ice less.
I get stronger every day.
I’ve made new friends.
I know myself better.
I’m more flexible.
I don’t miss the legasus.
I still have swelling.
I don’t have stitches.
I can sleep through the night.
I can have thoughts that don’t deal with my [...]

Perspective, Yah!

I realized on Monday afternoon that I had no one to drive me to physical therapy. It’s about 25 minutes away and I was not so juiced about going it alone. Without much of a choice, I climbed into my car and headed out. The trouble has something to do with avoiding hip flexors and [...]

Misplaced Phone

[UPDATE] My pal Shannon is going to grab it for me! She is quite possibly the raddest athletic trainer on this face of this earth. Probably won’t have it in my hands until the end of next week – feel free to email!
I left my phone in Vail today. Argh! If anyone is by Howard [...]

Waiting

I’m able to walk around my house now for the most part. Karen insists that I still use crutches on the stairs, so I do. The walking feels good but it feels scary at the same time. Every day my boundaries change, but I never know how much or what direction. Can I swing my [...]

It’s not all glory.

My ice couldn’t fix me tonight. My groin has been killing me all day and gosh darn that thing, it won’t stop. I’ve tried ice, not moving for hours at a time, and prayer. Any hip experts know what to do?
More stories tomorrow. Lots has happened and I need to catch up!

It’s not crack

But it sure feels like it. Ice, the frozen kind, is amongst my favorite things in the world right now. We spend dollars on it a day. Up to five if it’s really warm outside. I got some pretty loose instructions back in Vail on how much to use the stuff, something about – as [...]

Showering

It’s been a long two weeks of showering. I didn’t really think about it going in, but then again, I didn’t really have the time. The day after surgery I found myself in a foreign hotel room that smelled like Subway and I hadn’t showered for two days. I like my showers and I suppose [...]

Poigo Moigo

My mom got sick of sleeping on my couch, so she trucked me down to c.sprizzle for the weekend. My foot pumps expired yesterday, so for the third week post-op I have to wear these ridiculous looking foam boots whenever I’m laying down. And yes, they are velcroed together. My parents go to bed at [...]

Baby Steps, kinda sorta

According to “The Protocol” I was allowed to toss my brace a few days ago. I did and it turns out all of this physical therapy is doing the trick. As was predicted I can bend past 90 degrees now without any pain. In fact, that ability has proven quite useful in getting on with [...]
