Retail, Shmetail.

I was hopping down Pearl Street (figuratively of course) on Sunday and blammo - the sign above my favorite store in all of bTown says “Lost lease, Closing Sale”. What?!? - my mind was thinking as I cruised over and tapped on the window. My friend Kelsey, the store manager, unlocked the door and explained that Active Endeavors had failed to pay their rent and a day later the leasing company yanked the lease from beneath them. I knew that those two were having problems, but damn. How’s that for good business? I never had much confidence in the management of that company. The clothes in the store were always much different that those online (I liked those in the store), their email marketing was embarrassingly sloppy, and they had a history of late payments. Was the yanking of their lease a surprise? Probably not. But if they wanted to get out of the business, why not get out a few months ago with a smooth exit, and a nice farewell to your customers of years. Right now, I think those guys suck.

Kristen and I rocked over to the 29th street mall. As we climbed out of my car, I saw a posterboard on the side of store in front of us that said, ‘Nau, coming soon’. And man did i get retail giddy. I’ve been following the evolution of this company for a number of months now and they are releasing some pretty rad clothes at the end of this month. My disappointment over Active Endeavors quickly washed away. Lost one, gained one - equilibrium attained.
