Retirement is a wondrous thing.

I retired from skiing on Saturday. After two decades of the sport, I decided to call it quits. All b/c of my poor choice in equipment. For two years I’ve been fighting a losing battle against some looney toon plastic. Damn stuff doesn’t strech at all. It’s not forgiving. Nor comfy. I hate it. And I don’t hate much. But my damned boots that some rodeo clown at Boulder Ski Deals helped me pick out have caused more pain in my life than when I lost my two pet llamas to the bird flu. Right now, to me, Skiing = Pain. Not even a pleasurable pain, it’s more nauseating than anything.

I clearly remember banging my head against a mogul on Saturday. Intentionally - trying to draw the pain away from my feet. As Leon Phelps would say… Thaths, Thaths just not cool, man.

So I’m done, Bode Miller can have the Gold, and that Argentinian dude can have the silver. I quit.
