Elizabethtown Sucks

The worst movie I have ever seen. Cameron Crowe ought to be embarassed his name is associated with the movie. Orlando Bloome ought to quit acting or at least stick to the action movies, where talking and emotion are not involved. Ten minutes in - I realized that the next two hours would be painful. An unrealistic plot, and an early Alec Baldwin appearance tipped me off. But then I sat through it, just to make sure.

Halfway through my brother sent me a text message to see if we could leave, but for some reason my friend Kate thought it would be best to sit through the whole damned thing. Granted I haven’t walked out of a cinema since Dogma, but this movie deserved it. Absolutely no continuity and terrible acting would set anybody off. But the scene stealing from Garden State made this movie unbearable. I was squirming, embarassed that I was even there. Then I began thinking what the other people in the theater were thinking…I’ll never know but A.O. Scott (a critic I rarely agree with) said it best:

“Trimmed down from a longer version that was shown at the Venice and Toronto film festivals, the movie struggles to sustain a tone of bittersweet whimsy, but its emotions are in the end as undercooked as its ideas.”

Don’t waste your money.
