Do you have the time?

Do you ever feel like you might be missing out on something if you’re not plugged into the news pipeline? Like you might miss the next cataclysm on this here earth if you don’t refresh your browser one more time, or catch the nightly news?

I’m starting to realize that my obsession with keeping on the ‘up’ and ‘up’ in this world is keeping me from my own life. Therefore I am formally announcing a new programme entitled ‘Abstinence From The World Around You’. Since the idea only popped into my head a few moments ago you’ll have to wait for a loose set of rules. But you can let the title guide you for now.

Essentially - (1) you shouldn’t be missing out on the people and events immediately around to contstantly read about other people and THEIR events. (2) Rely on the networks that envelope our lives to report the good stuff. Believe me - you’ll recieve a text message, phone call, email, or better yet, a personal visit when something big happens - it’s inevitable. (3) I know this idea may somehow seem socially irresponsible, it’s not.
