Brutal Honesty.
The NYTimes Magazine published an totally radical (in all meanings of the word) article in their most recent issue. Titled Building His Case (I think that’s supposed to be underlined - oh well), Architect Brad Cloepfil of Portland Oregon tells it how it is.
His interview reminded me of a scene in “In Good Company” with Topher Grace and Scarlett Johansson:
SJ: So what are you doing here, really?
TG: My wife left me and today is the anniversary of our first date, I found the idea of going home to be so depressing that I sort of latched on to your dad and invited myself over for dinner.
SJ: Wow, you’re sort of a bizzarly honest guy, huh?
TG: No, honestly I’m not, just around you for some reason, people would probably say that I’m an emotionally guarded anal-retentive asshole.
Fortunately for us ol’ Brad’s brutal honesty was with a magazine reporter. The real beauty of the interview was that it was the real deal. This guy actually said and thinks those things. Kudos to him for actually speaking his mind and making this an interesting read.
