My iPod Scuffle.

1:00 PM - I bought it.
3:00 PM - I hate it so far.
5:00 PM - I figured it out.

I guess you’re supposed to read the directions. Note to self.
So I purchased an iPod Shuffle today. What a struggle. I had heard some rumors that there have been issues with the compatibility of the shuffles with various machines (even macs) - but I bought it anyway. I was hating myself for a few hours when I realized I hadn’t open the instruction manual. Not quite plug and play I suppose.

I brought it to the gym for a test run. Just like the ads say - I heard songs in my library that I didn’t even know existed. How’s that for spontaneity?

Splendid shuffle resource: HERE
So what was the deal? The iPod didn’t come with factory presets. Go Figure. This has caused a lot of problems (as reported on various forums).

What to do?
1. Download the latest iPod Updater - Keep your iPod away from the computer
2. Install the updater
3. Start the upater (this is where I messed up*).
4. Plug your iPod into a USB 2.0 port
5. Restore the shuffle to it’s factory settings (it would be to easy/ironic for the damn thing to ship with the original factory settings eh?)
6. Yahoo - you’re ready to go - iTunes should recognize that sucker now.

*Make sure you are starting the updater you just installed. The local village idiot - me - tried using one from last april for a few hours. Very entertaining. But honesly - why wouldn’t apple erase the old versions of the updater when a new one is installed? This is a very unique case. Can you remember the last time you updated a software program and you could use both versions after installation? No. You’re right - even if multiple versions existed - i’m an idiot.
