My buddy rick wears women’s ski boots…
Yesterday I rocked up to the mountains with my buddy Rick. No doube about it, A-Basin is a locals resort. It’s always refreshing after a winter full of jeans and starter jackets all along the i-70 corridor at the likes of Keystone and Breckenridge. Where else can you go and actually have people make fun of you when you wreck under a lift? At A-Basin people actually interact when waiting in a lift line or sharing a table for lunch. A mom offered us skittles in the lift line. We played “guess what time it is” with a 35 year-old man on one lift (I won with a guess of 12:14, actual time: 12:12). I can’t remember the last time I prolonged my lunch because I was enjoying the people we met at our table so much. Actually, I don’t think that has ever happened.
But let’s get to the real meat of the story. Rick broke the news to me as we were riding up the Pallavicini chair lift. I’m sitting there, anxiously awaiting the inevitable near death experiences at the top of the mountain and he steps right out and tells me that he recently acquired the ski boots he was wearing for $80, and for some unknown reason he actually admitted that they were women’s boots. Bad enough that they are hunter’s orange, but women’s? Yikes. He’s a finance guy.
